you Windows Update or associated set aux files as a recovery source.

Select A Recovery Source

Windows Update is the usual recovery source, but you can configure Group Policy to specify a different network location that contains all the files needed to repair Windows Restore or a corrupted management system.

Using Windows Update To Restore Windows Features And Benefits

  1. Updating Windows images is used by default if allowed by computer policy.

  2. You can set up Windows Update and Windows as the backup restore source. If If you are using Windows Update as a critical or remedial backup source, make sure your firewall is configured to allow access to Windows Update only.

Use Files As Absolute Source

Instead of Windows Update, you can use the following image as a source

You are using:

  • Mounts can implement a Windows image mounted from this .wim file as a source for reverting to advanced features and any recovery of a corrupted OS. For example: c:\mount\Windows. For more information on manually creating a new Windows image as a WIM file, see Disk Capture Using DISM Partition Images.

  • Installing Windows

    You can still use a working source Windows installation to restore common extra key features from the C:\Windows folder on your network.

  • Folders face to face (SxS)

    You can use a Windows side-by-side file from a network share or removable media such as installation media I’m Windows because the source files links. Example: z:\sources\SxS.

You must specify the Windows Image Service WIM file you want to use, and use the Wim: prefix in the path to denote that file format. For example, if you can specify index 3 for one in the submission named contoso.wim, enter: wim:\\network\images\contoso.wim:3.

  • Use Group Policy To Set The Intended Restore Source

    You can use the group policy settings for the preferred recovery source.

    Configure Group Policy For Feature Request

    1. Open the array policy editor. For example, on any computer running Windows 10, anywhere on the Start screen, type Group Edit Policy, then select Group Edit Policy to open the Group Policy Editor.

    2. Click Computer”, “Configuration “Administrative Templates”, “System” and then twoClick “Specify options for creating additional components” and “Restore components” once.

    3. Select the options you want to use the feature request.

    If you’re not even using Windows Update as a source for automatic recovery and corrupted file recovery, see the following instructions for troubleshooting the source.

    All Technical Updates

    Update recovery sources and latest maintenance updates. If the feature file uses the from image.a .Wim file, you can run a DISM repair on the image. For more information, see Editing the Help for Mounting a Windows Image from DISM. • The Windows Recovery Environment is still (winre) a minimal operating system that depends on the Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE), which together contains a set of tools for restoring, recovering, and diagnosing Windows. If the operating system of the primary host fails to start for any reason, the computer will attempt to start WinRE, which can help with troubleshooting or manually automatically. In WinRE, you can often automatically restore the bootloader, restore the operating system from some image backup, revert any to a system restore point, run a prompt with instructions, etc.

  • Reset this PC – allows you to reset Windows to factory settings (personal settings, data and files will be erased);
  • System Restore – allows you to restore the state of Windows using a previously created restore point;
  • System Image Recovery – restores a full Windows image backup to external media;
